Were you ever tempted to include a guitarist in the band?

ben in sunglasses Ben: Me and Robert were talking about maybe getting an accordion player when we first started. Like an accordion player who plays through distortion or something like that just for something different, but a guitar player...I don't think so.
Darren: With a piano, bass and drums and no guitar and really kick a lot of ass we had to approach playing all the instruments differently. I mean you couldn't get away with playing drums the way you could in a regular rock band and have it work, you really have to exaggerate and go overboard. It took a while to experiment and find out what works and what doesn't.

Robert: Everybody is sort of playing percussive instruments
Ben: Some of my playing is loud to try to keep up with it. Also it's harder to fill a certain kind of space on the piano then it is on the guitar, that's why there's not a lot of piano bands around. Because with guitars, power chords do it for the next three or four bars. A piano just doesn't have that kind of sustain and also its tough musically to fill the most space on the piano without sounding dinky on your lower range.
How do you rig the piano up when you perform?
